Business Partner Spotlight: Nick Tsontakis

This month, Pavilion Fine Arts Gallery is honored to feature visionary local architect and designer, Mr. Nick Tsontakis.

Nick Tsontakis was born in 1955 in Kostadiana Crete. He moved with his family to Montreal in 1959 where he would ultimately study engineering and architecture at McGill University, graduating with distinction in 1978. Nick began his career at Dimakopoulos and Partners in Montreal, where he contributed to major projects, including winning competitions for the Communications Tower of Algiers and the Quebec City Provincial Courthouse.

In 1981, Nick founded his own firm, Nick Tsontakis Architects, in Montreal, becoming a prominent member of the architecture community. He moved to Arizona in 1995 due to political instability in Quebec, finding a new home that reminded him of Crete. He established Tsontakis Architecture in Scottsdale in 1996, focusing on high-end custom homes and significant community projects, such as the 30,000-square-foot St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Chandler, Arizona.

Over his career, Nick has designed over 500 projects across Canada, the United States, and Europe, earning a reputation for his unique approach to architecture and interiors. His work has been widely published and recognized with numerous awards, including the SEAOA Award of Merit, the Arizona Masonry Guild Excellence in Architecture Award, and the AIA Arizona Community Education Award.

Nick has also been actively involved in professional and community organizations, serving on various boards and as president of the Arizona Pancretan Association. In recent years, he was honored as a Design Icon by Sources for Design Magazine and received the Masters of the Southwest Award from Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine in 2018.
